Former High Point University Academic Coordinator and adjunct professor Dr. Akir Khan is the recipient of a Community Game Changer Award from the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro. Offered in partnership with the Greensboro Grasshoppers, the award recognizes people who have worked to make the local community a better place for all residents.
Khan is the former chair of the Piedmont Interfaith Council and is involved in promoting interfaith dialogue within the community. He also serves as a community liaison to the Out of the Garden Project to raise awareness of the need for donations to support food deserts.
Previously, Dr. Khan was a program facilitator at the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, a master’s degree in public affairs from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and is pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership at HPU. In 2014, he was selected for The Triad Business Journal’s “Forty Leaders Under 40."
The Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro will recognized Dr. Khan at the conclusion of the Greensboro Grasshoppers game on June 11 at NewBridge Bank Park.
